Banner for Tomorrow

Our country, our world,
Alas, how many tears
For terrors whirled,
Taking away our joys and cheers.

This dawn, no sun, nor even a breeze
Our flag half-mast this morn
For the victims' end of years
Our soul’s down, cries and mourns.

Yet, hand in hand with our sorrow
We go forth with hope and trust
For the days of tomorrow
Our spirits free of terrors crushed.
